Recruitment
We currently have proofreading and editing jobs available for experienced editors and proofreaders to edit scholarly articles submitted to academic and scientific journals.
Proofreading and editing jobs offer a fabulous career opportunity for those who wish to set their own hours and work remotely. Communication with us is via email and all editing and proofreading is conducted on electronic documents using your own computer. Some of our team members edit full time, but these positions are also perfect for those who wish to supplement their income with part-time work – retired scientists and doctors, for instance, who wish to keep up with advances in their fields, new degree recipients who are not yet fully employed and stay-at-home parents with free time available for editing and proofreading.
Remuneration
The rates of pay start at $10 USD per 1,000 words, and a FREE proofreading and editing course is provided.
All transactions between PRS and proofreaders and editors are carried out electronically via email: PRS sends the proofreaders an article (usually in Microsoft Word) via email, and the proofreader returns the proofread version in the same manner within a set amount of time.
Qualifications
Proficiency in the English language is absolutely vital for all applicants for the proofreading and editing jobs. Many of our clients are not native speakers of English, but they write and publish much of their research in the English language and look to us for help correcting and perfecting their documents for success. Our proofreaders must therefore be native speakers of English who possess a solid understanding of the patterns and rules of written English.
All applicants for our proofreading and editing jobs must also have earned a master’s or higher degree, with some of our editors holding PhDs in their areas of specialisation. This requirement ensures that every one of our proofreaders is familiar with the formal prose style appropriate for reporting research, as well as with the appropriate structures and contents of journal articles and other documents intended for publication. All our proofreaders must be familiar with the referencing methods such as AMA and Vancouver commonly used in academic writing, and instructional experience in the field is an asset as well.
The ability to work efficiently in Microsoft Word is necessary to succeed at the proofreading and editing jobs. Our clients usually send us their documents as Word files, which are then proofread on-screen using Word’s Track Changes and Comment functions to inform authors about corrections and other changes to the text. Experience working with LaTeX is also beneficial, as a few of our clients submit their writing in that format.
Respect for the research and writing of our clients is expected of all applicants, as is an understanding of the importance of confidentiality when working with unpublished research. Our best prooofreaders are known for their perfectionism and keen attention to details of every imaginable kind. They are also well organised, carefully planning their tasks to ensure that each and every document is carefully edited and returned in time to meet the client’s deadline.
Flexibility
You can choose your workload: one week you can work only 10 hours and another week you can work 25 hours.

Every proofreader receives prompt weekly payments for the work completed in that period.
Working from Home
Our proofreaders enjoy working from home, because it fits perfectly around family life.
FREE Proofreading Course
Every candidate will be offered a FREE proofreading course for academic and scientific papers while receiving full pay.
Stay Connected

Environmental Impact
